The Honda NSR 500 is a racing motorcycle used, from 1984 to 2002, by the Japanese company Honda to participate in the 500 class of the FIM World Championship. In 1985 the Honda NSR 500 won its first world title with Freddie Spencer and in the course of around 20 years of participation in the world championship the Honda NSR 500 won a total of 14 constructors' titles and 11 riders' titles. The Honda NSR 500 brought success to riders such as Wayne Gardner in 1987, Eddie Lawson in 1989, Mike Doohan from 1994 to 1998, Alex Crivillé in 1999 and Valentino Rossi in 2001. The Honda NSR 500 also holds the record for victories in a season of the world championship, in 1997 he won 15 races out of 15.
