Campbell-Railton Blue Bird, Corgi Die-Cast Metal Model Campbell-Railton Blue Bird Ref. 153 Scale 1:43 years 1950 60 approx.
The Campbell-Railton Blue Bird is a car built to achieve records that were unthinkable at the time and which in 1935 broke the speed record of 300mph with British driver Malcolm Campbell at the wheel. The car was built starting from the 1932 Campbell-Napier-Railton Blue Bird project, however the Napier-Lion engine was replaced with the more powerful Rolls-Royce R engine, a V12 engine with approximately 2300 hp. In 1933 the first attempt made at Daytona Beach set the record of 272 mph and, given the problems encountered on the car due to the greater power of the English V12, prompted the technicians to completely redesign the car and so in 1935, on September 3, Malcolm Campbell established with the Blue Bird 1935 the amazing land record of 301.129 mph, about 485 km/h. The Campbell-Railton Blue Bird is preserved in the Daytona International Speedway museum.
