Renault is a French car manufacturer founded by Louis Renault in 1898. After the death of its founder and accusations of collaboration with the Nazi regime, it became a state-owned company under the name Régie nationale des usines Renault; in 1996, Renault was privatized again under the corporate name Renault S.A. The letters LR initially represented the logo of the French car manufacturer and were placed on the wheel hubs, while the stylized front of a Renault made around 1900 only appeared on documents and instruction manuals for French cars. After the First World War, the famous "Diamond" was introduced, used for the first time in 1925, positioned on the car's horn with open vertical slats to allow sound to pass through. Over the years, the Diamond has been redesigned and readapted to convey the character and image that has always characterized Renault automobiles: reliability and robustness. Some famous models produced by the diamond-badged car manufacturer include the Reinastella, the most luxurious Renault ever, the Dauphine, the R4, the Renault 25 and the Fuego, and the Renault Espace, the first minivan produced by a car manufacturer.
