Jordan Grand Prix was a Formula 1 team founded in the 1980s in Ireland by Eddie Jordan after years of racing in Formula 3 and Formula 3000. In 1979, Eddie Jordan decided to pursue a career as a race car constructor and founded his team, Eddie Jordan Racing. After years of success and titles in junior formulas, the last title won was in 1988 when Jean Alesi became Formula 3000 World Champion, followed by the big leap into Formula 1. Before its sale and subsequent closure, Jordan Grand Prix competed in 250 F1 GPs and achieved 4 victories; its best finish was 3rd place in 1999 with Heinz-Harald Frentzen (2 wins and a fight for the drivers' title). Other drivers who raced for Jordan Grand Prix include Giancarlo Fisichella, Damon Hill, Rubens Barrichello, Jarno Trulli, Ralf Schumacher, Tiago Monteiro, and Eddie Irvine who, before moving to Ferrari in 1996, competed in 31 GPs from 1993 to 1995.
