Lamborghini, Exem die-cast metal model Off Shore Giesse Ferretti Lamborghini Engineering Italian Champion 1992 Off Shore Class 1, model authorized by Ferretti Racing Team, Made in Italy 1:100 scale
The Off Shore Giesse Ferretti is a vessel designed in 1992 by Michael Peters Yacht Design and built in Italy by Tecnara, approximately 49 feet long and powered by Lamborghini engines. The boat was first Italian Off Shore Champion Class 1 in 1992 and World Off Shore Champion in 1994. The Off Shore Giesse Ferretti was also piloted by Ayrton Senna in 1993, probably after the private test session of the McLaren F1 in which he had at his disposal the V12-cylinder engines of the car manufacturer of Sant'Agata Bolognese, in particular of Lamborghini Engineering directed by the engineer Mauro Forghieri. At the end of the tests, therefore, Senna decided that McLaren should have fitted the Italian engine for the following championship and so the Lamborghini and McLaren top management reached an agreement on the basis of 20 million dollars. A sudden and unexpected phone call received some time later from the Lamborghini top management, Ron Dennis communicated that he would not respect the previous agreement reached and Peugeot, with perhaps also the push also from Maranello as it is rumored, in 1994 became the supplier of F1 engines for the team of Woking, effectively putting an end to Lamborghini Engineering and very probably, if it hadn't intervened in the negotiations with McLaren, the 1994 F1 World Championship could have had a different memory.
