Williams, 1:43 scale die-cast metal model Hot Wheels Williams BMW F1 Ralf Schumacher, 2000 Racing Ralf Schumacher Collections.
Williams F1 is a British Formula 1 team founded in 1977 by Sir Frank Williams and Sir Patrick Head, the fourth most successful team of all time in terms of titles won, with 16 in total (9 constructors' and 6 drivers'). Since 2020, it has been entered in the Formula 1 World Championship as Williams Racing and is now American-owned. Sir Frank Williams (1942 - 2021), after having experience as a driver, founded his first team, Frank Williams Racing, in 1960, which he sold in 1976. The following year, he founded Williams GP Engineering with Patrick Head, which brought the Williams-March 761, a single-seater with a March chassis and Ford V8 engine, to the start of the 1977 Spanish GP. Thanks to a wealthy sponsor, Patrick Head designed the first Williams, the FW06, in 1978, which finished 10th in the constructors' championship. 1979 was the year a second Williams car was entered in the Formula 1 championship for the first time; Alan Jones and the second driver Clay Regazzoni took the FW07, the first car to use ground effect, to the track. 1980 was the year of the first title, as Alan Jones won the drivers' championship after a hard battle until the last race with Nelson Piquet. Another important date in Williams' history is 1994, the year in which one of the most loved and talented drivers in the circus, Ayrton Senna, lost his life during the Monza GP on May 1st. A curious fact that led to Senna's move to the British team founded by Williams and Head was McLaren's failure to respect the agreement made with Lamborghini for the supply of Italian V12 engines for the team then managed by Ron Dennis.
